Not in the Mood Today

I hate when I'm crabby yet am still forced to make jokes with the regular customers.

I mean, god forbid I don't have a smile on my face, then everyone wants to know what's wrong, or makes a comment about how cranky I am, which just makes me even crankier.

If your regular cashier looks like she's had a hell of a night, don't make it worse by commenting on it.

It may be hard to believe, but sometimes I just don't want to be at work dealing with people. I'm either tired, or just don't feel like talking that day. When I answer you back with one-word answers, don't get louder trying to be funny in order to make me laugh. I'm not in the mood.

That's all people did today, annoy the fuck out of me. No one did anything in particular, except my co-worker because she's old and becoming senile, but that's a daily thing with her.

NOTE: If you notice your cashier just doesn't look like he/she wants to talk today, he/she probably doesn't. Leave him/her alone. Don't ask a million times what's wrong. It's probably none of your business. So instead of being labeled as an annoying customer, just pay for your stuff and get out.

  1. Aren't customers suppose to be polite, pay and move on? What's with all the "chatty - ask questions" types you seem to have?

Sorry gal! Wish it was a better day for you.

  2. How irritating. These people may be fun to chat with on most days but you could probably care less if they came in or not any given day...

  3. This happens to me all the time at my job. I work with college students and professors, and I'm right there with you. The more people ask, the more annoyed I get.

  4. I fucking hate it when people tell me, "SMILE!!!". It's one of my pet peeves. I smile when I'm talking to customers, bitch. If not, I'm busy doing something, therefore concentrating.

It's always dudes who tell me to smile too. Sorry I'm not painting a pretty picture for you to whack it to when you get home. Sometimes I tell them, "If I were a dude, would you be saying that to me?". Most of the time, they don't even get what I'm hinting at.

  5. I hate it when customers come up and say "smile" I'm working dammit what's to smile about

  6. I know! It's really hard for someone who chose to be in customer service to actually be expected to be personable, friendly and pleasant to be around. The sheer nerve of a customer actually wanting a nice cashier is just irritating!

    1. Fuck you susanne. You inconsideriate bitch.

  7. Suzanne,
If you even follow this blog, then you would know that Cashier starts the day out in a good mood and explains her downfall with the dumb shit she has to deal with from customers on a daily basis (which makes this blog so funny). Every reader here has worked in customer service and understands what customers can do to your mood. And another thing, I believe blog post number 1 explained why Cashier works in customer service.
Obviously you've never worked in customer service before. And to top it off, you're probably one of the asshole customers that gives cashiers a problem.

Go hate on someone else's page.

  8. You have such a poor customer service attitude. If you were my employee and treated my customers that way, you wouldn't last a week.

Perhaps if you changed you pissy attitude, the customers might give you some respect - even though you don't appear to deserve very much of it.
